I finally published my children’s book about pet adoption!
Many years ago I wrote out a “wish list” of things I wanted to accomplish in my lifetime, which included “being published.” At the time, I had no idea what that meant. But now it’s a reality.
I’ve had dogs as pets for most of my life because they bring me such joy. Over 12 years ago I wrote Harley’s story for my granddaughter and then promptly put it away in a file drawer because I didn’t think it was good enough to be published. Last year, with inspiration from a high school classmate, I dusted off the story, found an illustrator and a publisher and went about the process of self-publishing Harley Gets Adopted. It’s been an awesome learning experience.
The book is dedicated to my 8 adorable grandchildren. I want them to know that if they follow their dreams, their “wish lists” can come true too.
The real Harley, Mr. Harley D, was our little “fur person” because we loved him so much. He was a valued part of our family for over 15 years.
